What is RWS?
The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) is an international, voluntary standard that addresses animal welfare in sheep farms and chain of custody of wool from certified farms to the final product.
Individual sites are certified by independent, third-party certification bodies using annual audits. Material is tracked from the farm to the final product using Transaction Certificates (TC).
Principles of RWS:
The RWS is a voluntary global standard that addresses the welfare of sheep and of the land they graze on. The RWS provides verification of the practices that are happening at farm level, giving brands a clear solution that will allow them to make claims about their wool sourcing with confidence. The standard was developed by an international working group through an open and transparent process. GSCS only conjoins with the secondary scope of RDS i.e., traceability/chain of custody.
