What is RDS?
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) is an international, voluntary standard that addresses animal welfare in the duck and geese supply chain and chain of custody of down and feather material from certified farms to the final product.
Individual sites are certified by independent, third-party certification bodies using annual audits. Material is tracked from the farm to the final product using Transaction Certificates (TC).
Principles of RDS:
To ensure the continuous improvement of best animal welfare practices in the down industry, GSCS performs audits to check whether your supply chain complies with the RDS. The RDS has been developed by its developers through a wide stakeholder review process, which involved, among others, worldwide down supply chain members and major animal welfare organizations. GSCS only conjoins with the secondary scope of RDS i.e., traceability/chain of custody.
